To be fair this is the Kapaa location, not the original Hanalei location. But we ate there for lunch on a Saturday. Had the Macademia Crusted Seared Ahi - which all the adds/reviews say is "legend": I'm not sure what legend it's from because the Seared Ahi we got was more like "well done tuna". When inquiring about if the Ahi was properly seared, we were told "Yes, that is the Macdemia Ahi". They had no concept of how seared ahi should actually be raw in the middle. I also thought, maybe this location just hasn't gotten it right yet, but then I saw the owner, recognized him from the pictures in the advertisements, walking in and out of the kitchen area. The restaraunt wasn't busy and given we ordered his signature dish which we left 3/4 of it uneaten, he didn't even come out to ask how the food was. Says to me that they had too much success and must have lost something (if it was ever there). If you want gourmet food, go elsewhere. If you come here, try something simple. I prefer my burgers on the more well done side anyways.

This is a unique little cafe in the northern part of Kauai. It's a small little shop in the middle of a strip mall type place. They only have take out and some tables in the middle of the mall that you can get if you are lucky. The food there is awesome....the fries were awesome and the sandwiches we had were good. However, the best reason to visit is the desserts....lots of yummy chocolate treats!

I spent a week in Kauai, and the only place I ate was at the Polynesia Cafe in Hanalei. Their food was very reasonably priced, for the wonderful quality. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone !
